Who's your Flight Instructor?

We're not your typical flight instructors. FH Instructors fly and compete at the highest level and are committed to safety, professionalism and helping you reach your goals.

Eric Moore
Owner and founder Eric has been flying for over twenty years having earned his PPL back in 2005. After a long motorcycle road racing career that took him all over the US competing on everything from 250GP to Superbike machinery, Eric discovered aerobatics. From the early days flying a Super Decathlon to the Extra 330SC he now flies in the Unlimited Category, his energy and enthusiasm for flying and teaching all attitude flight is unmatched. He brings a unique blend of technical acumen from his aerospace career and precision from his racing background to be among the few pilots flying Unlimited today. He loves teaching and seeing his students progress and become better, safer aviators in the process.

You can find him in Phoenix teaching in the Super Decathlon or in Provo, UT on a monthly basis teaching in the Super D and Extra 300L with Pilot Makers Advanced Flight Academy.

In his own words:
"Teaching is my way of giving back. I've been fortunate to have some great mentors in this sport and teaching is my way of sharing that knowledge. Whether you aspire to compete or not, you will learn more about yourself and what you are capable through aerobatic flight."

Doug Ringering
Doug brings a wealth of experience to the FH Team. Currently flying the Extra 300L in the intermediate category Doug brings passion and enthusiasm to the Arizona aerobatic community that is infectious. A captain for South West Airlines Doug is firm believer in the importance of aerobatic and UPRT training.

In his own words:
"My slightly unconventional aviation journey started as an M1 Abrams main battle tank gunner. I started receiving flight training at an aero club in Germany during my enlistment and ultimately finished my training after separating from the military. I finished my pilot training in Oklahoma, received my Bachelors degree in 1999 and was employed as a Flight Instructor at Spartan College of Aeronautics for several years. I was introduced to aerobatics during that time and found myself addicted to an Extra 300L. I went from flight instructing to Skywest Airlines for 14 years, then to Southwest where I have flown for over 10 years. This career path has allowed my to pursue my passion for aerobatics again and enjoy the acro culture at KDVT. I currently have around 18,000 total time with 500 hours in the Extra. Not all aerobatic flying translates to the airline realm but upset recovery and prevention training is a must. Taking deep dives into aerodynamics and truly understanding what is involved with upset recovery at all attitudes has made me a more well rounded, competent pilot.
