For the student pilot, recreational, corporate and airline pilot to seasoned competitors alike, FHA offers comprehensive Spin, UPRT and Aerobatic instruction with the singular goal of improving your skills, confidence and airmanship. 

Comprehensive Spin Training

Gain the necessary skills and confidence to handle spins safely with our Spin Training.  Not just for CFI candidates. 

 

This 3 hour course includes a comprehensive ground portion focused on stall spin/awareness, the aerodynamics of spins, where and why they happen,  and how to prevent, recognize and recover in the event of an unintentional spin.  Students will learn intentional spin entry and recovery, accelerated and flat aggravated spin modes and the effects control inputs have on spin behavior. Students are placed in real life flight situations that result in unintentional spins and learn how to recognize and recover quickly and safely.

 

This spin training course covers all the items required of CFI candidates on the CFI ACS and is the most comprehensive CFI spin endorsement. Students will have fun in a safe environment and lean the skills necessary to keep their future students safe.

This course is offered to individuals as well as taught as a class. For flight schools looking for spin training for your CFI candidates we can build a class over a weekend to get your students their CFI Spin Endorsements.

Upset Prevention And Recovery Training

Develop the skills needed to prevent and recover from unexpected flight situations with our Upset Prevention and Recovery Training. This course is crucial for improving pilot safety and increasing your stick and rudder skills.

 

Loss of Control In-Flight (LOC-I) is the leading cause of aviation fatalities. Our goal is get our students out of their comfort zone by exploring all attitude flight. Students will learn the causes of upsets that lead to LOC-I and learn to recognize, prevent and recover when needed. Students will gain the skills and confidence necessary to recover from any unusual attitude quickly and safely all in a fun and above all safe environment.

 

The FHA UPRT course is a 4 hour course broken up into 4 one-hour modules/flights. Progression is at your own pace and each lesson builds on the previous flight.

Aerobatic Instruction

Looking to learning something new and explore aerobatics? Do you want to improve your stick and rudder skills in a fun and safe environment? Through aerobatics students learn how to control the aircraft in all attitudes and constantly varying energy states.

 

Whether you aspire to  compete or just want to have fun trying something new, Foxtrot Hotel can get you there. Eric is an Unlimited Competitor in the International Aerobatic Club and enjoys teaching and mentoring aspiring aerobatic pilots. From primary through advanced levels Eric can take your flying to the next level.  

 

Eric  attends many competitions through out the year as well as provides ground coaching and critique at Arizona and Utah Aerobatic Club practice days.

 

Aerobatic instruction is offered in Phoenix in the American Champion Super Decathlon and in Provo in the Extra 300L and Super Decathlon.

Aerobatic instruction is offered on a per hour basis. 5 and 10 hour packages are available. When asked how many hours are needed to "learn" aerobatics, the answer truly is unlimited. Hence why the top level of the sport is called unlimited. However in general you can expect the following:

5 hours: learn most of the primary aerobatic maneuvers.  Loops, Rolls, 1/2 cubans and competition spins

​

10 hours: builds upon the previous lessons and introduces sportsman level figures like hammerheads, Immelmanns, humpty bumps and vertical rolls. 

 

Rate: $325/ hr Super Decathlon and $510/hr Extra 300L 

​

Aerobatic instruction is also offered in your own aircraft. High performance, tailwheel, Extra, Pitts and Eagle specific training is available. Contact for more information.
